It's the truth on sports and is on display big time here in seattle. yesterday on Groz with Gas my partner and I got in a discussion about it in an abstract way. Gas talking about how the Mariners don't connect with fans they way they used to and need to try to look at that factor in building a team. My retort is if they were winning none of this would matter.
At UW Ty Willingham is running more afoul of the media then he has before and the Husky Honks today were speculating if he were better with the media it might be easier for him. I disagree. If they were 25-11 over the past 3 years instead of 11-25 his prickly personality would not mean squat
In this buisness we sometimes make thigs more complicated then they are. With almost no exceptions WINNING is the cure all. WINNING solves everything. we only talk about this other crap because the teams aren't WINNING. Look at the Seahawks. All the other stuff,Rocky Bernard and Bryce Fishers off field incidents are downplayed in the media because the 'Hawks are winning. Its not complicated.

Off today down to Las Vegas...105 today. Did you catch the football show yesterday. while we all sat a Quest Field we managed to paint a fairly bleak picture for the Seahawks this year. we didn't do predictions, but if we did I still think most everyone is picking this team to make it to the playoffs for a 6th straight year. I think the reason for most of us is about the weak division as much as anything else.
Fact is despite the smooth exterior this has been a rough camp for the Seahawks. Lot's of little injuries preventing certain guys from getting used to other guys and leaving certain questions very difficult to answer. For example,we all to a man agreed that the Hawks should be a better rushing team this year though 40% of their starting OL has been out all camp.
we believe the Defense can carry the mail early despite real issues about stopping the run and a new aggressive blitz pattern that figures to leave the corners on an island. Hell we even fretted about special teams.
Not to mention no Hasselback nad this weird transition deal that's in place,well I have faith but it seems like a lot can go wrong> Maybe that's it more then anything....It feels like there are alot of ways for this season to spin out-of-control. for any other team I don't think you'd have anywhere near the confidence that the Seahawks have. But that is part of it as well. Maybe the biggest thing this team has going for them is they are used to winning,the find a way. Man is that important this year
